Eye Surgery

Marilyn had eye surgery yesterday. It as very quick, arrived at 6:15 AM an left the clinic at 7:25 AM. By the end of the day she was knitting.

She is mad at me because last week when I had surgery we were at the hospital all day.

Today I took her to the eye doctor and she said everything was going just fine. Two more types of drops to use.

We are hoping for the same results when the other eye is done.

Surgery

Today I am recovering from Hernia surgery. I was going in for a repair on the left side but after all said an done the doctor did both sides. Suprise, suprise. I didn't expect that. Now I know why we were there all day.

The surgery was done via laparoscopy with about 5 small holes in my abdomen, super glue was used to put me back together. This sure beats the old process of using staples to close you up. I could take a photo of my stomach, but I really don't think you want to look at that.

It was getting to the point that I do some passing of fluids or they were going to keep me over night, you know how some people take a box home, well I could have taken home a bag hung on me. I prefer neither, so I finally passed some fluid & I mean some, about 1/2 teaspoon.

Well, it worked so we went home.

It was a long night because I was up every 15 - 20 minutes trying to get the fluids out of my body and as I mention above it was not much, however today the flow is a lot more an not as often, I now know what to expect tonight. I normally do get up often thru the night due to the prostate.

I guess I was nieve as to what to expect because I never had surgery before a therefore no reference to the pain or how long it would take to heal. Correction, I did have my tonsils out 50 years ago.

I think I am on the mend.

Wheaton

We were going to make peanut butter cookies before Andy got home from working, however that didn't happen so we make them after supper.

When we got to the last amount of dough Andy told Abby to make one large cookie like he usually does so we did.

They turned out great an Abby had a good time assisting. Grandma
Grandma said that you have to put crosses on top of the cookie so Abby and grandma added this feature.

Today we went to Lazer Maxx, a building that Andy worked on. This facility has laser tag, video arcade & party areas, you play the video to accumulate tickets which you then redeem in for prizes. The lazer arena is filled with glowing pillars, arches and passageways which are enhanced with futuristic lighting and exhilarating sounds.

The facility also has a meeting room upstairs for parties.

Abby had a good time playing games a winning prizes, she did get a couple of stuffed toys from todays visit.

Security Implemented

Ben & I have started the next boot camp secession on how to crawl up the stairs. He was in the family room and he headed toward the stairs so I figured he was willing to tackle the challenge.

He didn't do too bad. It took between 5 to 10 minutes to complete the task. Marilyn said that he was looking at the stairs again as if to say "Let's Go".

The AHSS (Alexander Home Security System) has been implemented for Ben. Scott & Jen
brought over a gate for the large opening and I placed the two portable gates across the stairs to keep Ben from falling down them.

Today was my day to watch Ella & Ben, Jen working, Marilyn went to the eye doctor so it was me & them. Life moves fast, Ben just started to crawl it seems yesterday but he gets to where he wants to go fast. Tries to stand but still a little wobbly, but I am sure the next time I see him (Monday) he could be doing this all by himself.

The kids were good today, however Ben didn't want to take his nap in the AM or PM. He was a little fussy but nothing I couldn't handle.

I don't know where the day went because we didn't seem to accomplish anything. I guess I shouldn't say that, after Ben got up
an breakfast over we ended up in Ella's room where we played for about half hour or so.

Ella wanted to sleep in Ben's room with him when he took his nap, so she took her pillow, blanket and book an placed it on the floor. I was trying to get Ben to go to bed but his mind was some where else. Ella would call me asking if it was time for his nap, so I would go in the
room an there she was camped out.

Jen said that this is something that Ella has been doing lately, they sure do get along together very well. You still have to tell Ella to be careful but outside of that she sure loves her brother.

Sledding

Today Ella & Ben came for they're weekly stay while Jen was working, I was not home when they arrived, the kids were eating lunch. Since we received more snow since Christmas, Ella was ready for sledding down the front yard.

She finished lunch an was ready so we started to put her winter clothes on but low a behold she didn't have any mittens. Well, I tried to put a pair of my gloves on her but she didn't want them plus they really wouldn't work (so big), so Marilyn said use socks we had done that before either with our kids or the grandkids. Well, I went a got a pair of red socks (long ones to wear around the house at night) and as I put them on her, well they went all the way up to the shoulder an beyond but it worked, at least her hands were covered.

Well, we had some issues with getting down the hill without tipping over, (I guess I can't handle a device without runners for turning) Ella didn't like the fresh fallen snow all over the face (it was cold an wet). Oh I wanted to get a photo of this but I knew better, she wasn't a happy camper. It was cold, a she started to fuss so I quickly took my hankie out a brushed the snow off her face. I figured she was ready to quit a go back inside. I told her that this happens and so we go again. Well, guess what, it happen again the very next trip down the hill (more wet cold snow in her face out comes hankie again). But she made another two or three trips and then we decided that I would pull her around the yard (in the back, along the south side an down thru the woods where the deer travel. I don't know if that really meant anything to her yet. That was OK.

I ask if she had made an angel before, I didn't get an answer so I laid down showing her how to do it. Then I ask her to make an angel for me. She was not sure of what was going on but we did complete two angels. I tried to make a photo of the outlines but they didn't come out. I did take a movie of her while she was slowly moving her legs & arms not sure of what she was doing, tried to add the movie to article but it wouldn't attach, to bad.

After the five to ten minutes of pulling her around the yard, I figured going down the driveway would be fast an fun. Well, it was, but no control, the drive was icy so we spun around and ended up going down backwards which Ella liked. We made about 6 trips before we had to stop. I had a doctor appointment an I told her if she was still here when I returned we would go some more. Also I figured she could take her nap while I was gone (which she needed). Well, I got back before her nap was over but also the same time Jen returned so we didn't get the second chance. Jen got Ella up to go home but she didn't want to go home yet. I told Ella there would be more chances this winter. It was fun an enjoyable.
