Today Ella & Ben came for they're weekly stay while Jen was working, I was not home when they arrived, the kids were eating lunch. Since we received more snow since Christmas, Ella was ready for sledding down the front yard.
She finished lunch an was ready so we started to put her winter clothes on but low a behold she didn't have any mittens. Well, I tried to put a pair of my gloves on her but she didn't want them plus they really wouldn't work (so big), so Marilyn said use socks we had done that before either with our kids or the grandkids. Well, I went a got a pair of red socks (long ones to wear around the house at night) and as I put them on her, well they went all the way up to the shoulder an beyond but it worked, at least her hands were covered.
Well, we had some issues with getting down the hill without tipping over, (I guess I can't handle a device without runners for turning) Ella didn't like the fresh fallen snow all over the face (it was cold an wet). Oh I wanted to get a photo of this but I knew better, she wasn't a happy camper. It was cold, a she started to fuss so I quickly took my hankie out a brushed the snow off her face. I figured she was ready to quit a go back inside. I told her that this happens and so we go again. Well, guess what, it happen again the very next trip down the hill (more wet cold snow in her face out comes hankie again). But she made another two or three trips and then we decided that I would pull her around the yard (in the back, along the south side an down thru the woods where the deer travel. I don't know if that really meant anything to her yet. That was OK.
I ask if she had made an angel before, I didn't get an answer so I laid down showing her how to do it. Then I ask her to make an angel for me. She was not sure of what was going on but we did complete two angels. I tried to make a photo of the outlines but they didn't come out. I did take a movie of her while she was slowly moving her legs & arms not sure of what she was doing, tried to add the movie to article but it wouldn't attach, to bad.
After the five to ten minutes of pulling her around the yard, I figured going down the driveway would be fast an fun. Well, it was, but no control, the drive was icy so we spun around and ended up going down backwards which Ella liked. We made about 6 trips before we had to stop. I had a doctor appointment an I told her if she was still here when I returned we would go some more. Also I figured she could take her nap while I was gone (which she needed). Well, I got back before her nap was over but also the same time Jen returned so we didn't get the second chance. Jen got Ella up to go home but she didn't want to go home yet. I told Ella there would be more chances this winter. It was fun an enjoyable.
Despite the look on her face in the picture, Ella had a great time. She won't stop talking about getting snow in her face. I'll try to talk her through that before next time!
